Kentish Town Vegbox was set up in 2012 by members of Transition Kentish Town, a local community group working on sustainability projects.

Out of that work came Vegbox, it was started as a way to make it easier for people in Camden and Islington to buy sustainably grown fruit and veg directly from UK farmers.

And we’ve been doing just that ever since!

When you join Vegbox, you’re not just getting a bag of fresh, flavour-packed fruit and veg each week – you’re joining a movement to create a fairer, more sustainable food system.

Get started today!

Our customers are our members – and as a member, you have a say in how Vegbox is run.

You can email us anytime to share ideas, complete our member surveys or join us at our next AGM, where we will vote on proposals, elect the co-op’s board members and enjoy fresh wood oven pizzas!

In 2022, members voted to create the Solidarity Fund, to help widen access to sustainably grown food through our low income discount

Our produce is locally grown, seasonal and using environmentally conscious and sustainable techniques.

Our farmers harvest only what’s needed each week, making Vegbox one of the most efficient ways, and least wasteful, ways to get fresh fruit & veg into the city. Any surplus is donated to local partners like the community benefit society Lifeafterhummus.

We’re proud to pay our farmers around 3x more than supermarkets, and to provide meaningful work here in North London, where every member of our team earns the same wage, in excess of the London Living Wage.

Buying fruit and veg through a box scheme is one of the easiest ways to make sure you and your family get a healthy plant-rich diet.

When you eat seasonally & organically, you get the freshest, most nutritious produce.

Check out our favourite recipes to help you cook produce you haven’t come across before.

We believe everyone should have access to fresh, seasonal, organic produce. That’s why we accept Healthy Start vouchers, offer a low- income discount of 20%, and will deliver bags to people who are unable to leave their home to collect them.

Are you tired of buying tomatoes and strawberries that look good but taste like nothing?

Have you ever enjoyed the explosion of taste when you bite into a tomato that was picked that very morning?

It might be time you start eating seasonally.

Globalisation and industrial agriculture have given us endless choice and low prices, but at a cost? Thousands of air miles. Faded flavours. And farming systems that push the planet to its limits.

Check out our season calendar to find out when is the best time to buy your favourite produce.

One of the joys of eating seasonally is developing a closer connection with the farmers who plough the fields, nurture the soil, and bring fresh produce to our plates.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in the fields and what produce is coming into season by subscribing to our newsletter Get with the Seasons.

Part of understanding seasonal eating is knowing about the hungry gap. Summer is the golden season for UK produce, and winter brings its comforting supply of hardy greens, squashes, and roots. But in early spring, roughly April to June, comes a lean period known as the hungry gap.

During this period the bag will feel a little lighter as there is just less fresh seasonal produce available.
